Alumnae & Reunions

Camp Mont Shenandoah continues to thrive from the remarkable love and strong commitment of her campers, staff and alumnae. Connect with your camp friends through events, reunions, our directory and more! Share memories of singing around the campfire on Vesper Hill, cheering on the Buffs and Greens, and all the times you shouted "I love the RIVER!"

For 98 years, Camp Mont Shenandoah has remained steadfast in the original vision of Nannie West:

The highest ideals of Camp Mont Shenandoah are to develop character, and to give to its girls a happy, wholesome vacation….which will strengthen the soul as well as mind and body. It develops self-control, self-reliance, mental alertness, a desire to achieve, and a sense of responsibility for the welfare of others, and a love for God’s great out-of-doors.

For all of our summers in operation, thousands of girls have come through our gates and grown into women. Many have gone on to watch their daughters, nieces and granddaughters do the same. These girls are now you, our treasured Alumnae.

We are fortunate to have a large and active group of alumnae who stay engaged with us and one another. This section of the website is dedicated especially to you. CMS is an amalgamation of all of your ongoing love, loyalty, friendship, sportsmanship and spiritual awareness–it continues because you continue to maintain her highest ideals.

As we prepare for our centennial celebrations, now is the perfect time to double down on our efforts to connect with each of you and to connect each of you to one another. We encourage you to stay engaged, reach out to old camp friends and join us as we celebrate our 100th summer in 2026.

Stay in Touch!

Looking to reconnect with old camp friends? Sign into our Alumnae Directory and find other active CMS alumnae.

Even if you have been on our mailing list, we are now using a new and improved database to expand our Alumnae Directory. If you have not already done so, please register to create a username and password through CampMinder. Please allow 1 – 2 business days for your profile to activate. We would love to have a record of your time at camp, connect you to other alumnae and ensure that you are on our list to receive news of reunions and CMS events.

In an effort to connect with as many women as possible ahead of our Centennial celebrations, we would also greatly appreciate your help connecting us to those women with whom we may have fallen out of touch. Please pass this page on to your CMS friends who may fit the bill!

Opportunities to Engage

Join us next summer as a Guest Counselor

We have loved welcoming alumnae back as Guest Counselors for the last couple of years, both for their energy and wisdom. As we approach our centennial summer in two years, we would love to give alumnae meaningful opportunities to engage while maintaining the ties between generations of CMS girls.

We hope a week at camp will be mostly fun, but this is a paid opportunity so come ready to do a little work! You might assist in classes, cover tables in the Feedbag, or guide devotions for counselors on their day off (to name a few). Campers and counselors love hearing stories from years past and learning songs and cheers that have gotten rusty over time. There will be plenty of time to take a dip in the river, hang out in Nightowls, play a little bit of deck tennis and maybe even help on an FB mural or two.

We have space for two alum at a time. Come solo or with one of your camp friends! Weeks run Saturday to Saturday. We will prioritize those who can commit to an entire week (or three), but we understand that life is busy. If a full week isn’t feasible for you but you still want to join us, we would love to hear from you anyway. If you are interested or have any questions, please reach out to our Program Director at ProgramDirector@CampMontShenandoah.com. We would be thrilled to spend part of the summer with you!

Plan a Gathering!

Whether you are in a bigger city or small town, we have a large network of alumnae across the country. Big or small, please reach out to us if you would like to plan an alum event near you. We would love to connect you to those in your area.

Save the Date!

WE BELIEVE

In 2015, we embarked on an effort to chronicle the full history and story of Camp Mont Shenandoah. Our very own Tucker Carrington took on the arduous task of recording our history and capturing our essence in what is now a handsome coffee table book that features over 200 pages of archival photographs and memorabilia. This is sure to be a keepsake that grandmothers, mothers, daughters, and granddaughters will share for generations.

Reach out to us at info@CampMontShenandoah.com to order your copy of We Believe today! Each book is $45.

Museum & Archives

Preserving Camp Mont Shenandoah’s rich history for generations of future CMS girls has been a central focus of ours for the last several years. Working alongside Camp Alumnae Allison Kelley and Mary Katherine Kolbert, we have established the “Museum” which is housed on the upstairs floor of the Office. In our archives are years of camp photographs, handwritten 5’s vespers, CMS memorabilia, a very well loved Mr. Buff and Sir Ivy, retired team song books and more. Campers and Alumnae are always invited to peruse our collection and enjoy the wonderful memories of summers gone by. As we approach our Centennial year, if you are hanging onto old memorabilia that you would like to donate for preservation, please let us know.
