Jumping Into Week Two

The second week got off to a cold start, so we did the only thing appropriate: a nice warm fire for breakfast in the Feedbag. However, after Monday it quickly warmed up into our hottest week yet. Despite this, we remained active and having fun.

Monday we had a very exciting Playday with the boys from Camp Maxwelton. A mix of all ages came to play soccer, kickball, deck tennis, and tennis. We had a blast hosting them and we are proud to say that the girls beat the boys in our soccer scrimmage!

Meanwhile, a small group of girls and boys went to hike Jump Mountain. They all came back with tshirts saying “I jumped on Jump Mountain!” that they made and had big smiles on their faces. It was a long and hard hike but they were rewarded with a beautiful view and a cool swim at the end. We are so glad to have the opportunity to go on excursions with the boys and everyone had a good time!

On Tuesday night we played a camp-wide game of Capture the Flag where bandanas vs. non-bandanas battled it out over three rounds. After it was announced at dinner every girl came to the green dresses in black, either sporting a bandana or none, and met with their team for a warmup/hype up session. If it is not clear already, we take our Capture the Flag wayyy too seriously. Bandanas brought home the victory winning 2 out of 3 of the games and winning the (also) very coveted prize of… bragging rights! The teams were random so everyone was able to play and work with young and old alike. The grit, determination, and strategy that both teams displayed made it an intense and very fun evening for all participating.

We had the first Honor Meet of the 2024 summer season on Wednesday night and announced the Green Team as the winner of the first 10 days. We hold these every 10 days to review which team competitions each team has won and we announce an overall winner between the Buffs and the Greens. We also announced our first five honor campers: Clover Fatsi, Inrid Mullins, Allie Johnston, Mary Lecky, and Helen Perrow. An honor camper is a girl who has exemplified the Five Virtues and 12 Laws of Woodcraft in all that she does through her classes, cabin, and overall interaction within the camp community. Each activity head also presented an award to a Junior and Senior who showed great participation, attitude and involvement in their class. It was a great night to honor those who have been outstanding campers and we love to have a chance to all gather on vesper hill for a campfire! Our second week has had an exciting start and we all can’t wait for more to come!

Highlights of The Week

Honor Meets are an exciting night where counselors are able to award outstanding campers for their participation and spirit through the previous 10 days and we were so excited to honor Clover Fatsi, Inrid Mullins, Allie Johnston, Mary Lecky, and Helen Perrow.
